Martyn accepts the Ironman challenge
A MARATHON may be a long way for most people - but for Cumnock native Martyn Gall it was just a final hurdle after already taking on a two-and-a-half mile swim and a 112 mile cycle ride.
Martyn, who now stays in Birmingham with his wife Diane and daughters Heather and Olivia, took part in the Bolton Ironman challenge, a gruelling endurance challenge held on Sunday, July 22.
The massive triathlon is seen as being one of the toughest endurance events in the country, beginning with a 2.4 mile swim in a lake before the massive cycle and then the 26.2 mile marathon distance run to the centre of Bolton.
And the former Cumnock Academy pupil put in a storming effort in coming home 163rd out of 1,428 competitors - only 18 months after taking up triathlon.
