MARIE Curie Cancer Care will be holding their second Walk Ten event at Dumfries House on August 25.
Following the success of last year's walk, the charity hope to have 500 people taking part this year to help raise funds for the local Marie Curie Nursing service in Ayrshire.
Walk Ten is a twilight 10km walk through the grounds of Dumfries House Estate starting at 6pm. Registration is only £10 per person and children can take part for free. When you register for Walk Ten, Marie Curie will send you a Walk Ten t shirt and sponsor form and everyone is encouraged to raise as much as possible to support the charity. All the funds raised will allow Marie Curie Nurses to provide more hours of care, totally free, for terminally ill people in the comfort their own homes.
Marie Curie Nurse, Liz Jelly and Community Fundraiser, Fiona Leitch recently visited Dumfries House to officially launch the event. Fiona said "Walk Ten is a brilliant event with a lovely atmosphere. Last year the weather wasn't on our side and it rained all night but everyone was in good spirits and had great fun regardless. After the walk we have live entertainment and at 10pm we have a firework display to round off the night and mark the time when our Marie Curie Nurses are starting their nightshifts around the country."
