BRAVE Cumnock girl Morag Day will proudly carry the Olympic torch in Bournemouth on Friday in recognition of her non-stop charity work after beating cancer.

Morag, now 56, whose mother Madge MacMillan lives in Glaisnock Street, put her life on hold for seven years whilst fighting non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and receiving two bone marrow transplants.

The former St Joseph's Primary pupil has been in remission for eight years and now has a huge passion for life.

Morag set up and runs a local support group for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and has raised thousands of pounds for the Lymphoma Association through marathon running, walking, cake and plants sales, coffee mornings and making and selling Christmas cards.
