Past Provost Stephanie Young returned to Council HQ this week to receive her Past Provost badge.

The Past Provost also got to see the framed portrait of her that will be displayed at Council HQ beside portraits of the other Past Provosts Bobby Stirling, Jimmy Boyd and Jane Darnbrough.

Past Provost Young was elected as Provost in May 2007 and during her five years in the role, she raised an incredible amount of money and awareness for various charities including Combat Stress, Alzheimer Scotland, East Ayrshire Carers' Centre, Ayrshire SANDS and Ayrshire Sportsability. As a councillor before that, she was one of the driving forces behind the upgrade of the A77 to M77.

Provost Jim Todd presented the badge saying: "It gave me great pleasure to present Past Provost Young with her badge and to thank her for the immense contribution she has made to the council and to communities and charities over the years in her role as Provost and before that, as a councillor. I know that all of my colleagues at the council join me in thanking Stephanie for a job well done and wish her health and happiness in her retirement."
