For a summer full of exciting, affordable activities for the whole family to enjoy look no further than East Ayrshire Council's bE Active guide.

Produced by Leisure Development Services, bE Active contains a whole range of activities with something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. Many sessions are free and all are affordable.

For the early years age group there is a range of creative activities are on offer - mini movers, messy play, music and movement and sessions that bring the outdoors, indoors! The ever popular Park 'n' Play sessions provide a variety of activities including runaround games, parachute games and fun sports, while Motivators Mini Olympics are fun and interactive, with arts and crafts and a mini Olympics finale.

Children and young people can enjoy all different sporting activities, from summer street hockey, badminton and basketball. Look out for the Street Sport Express in your area; join in the free StreetSport cages football events or take part in Scotland's biggest football opportunity - StreetSport Icon 2012 and win a training day with the Scottish Communities League Cup Final winners, Kilmarnock FC!

This year young people will also have the opportunity to compete in an exciting new event - the EA X-Games which will feature a range of activities including the Mobile Skate Park, DJ sessions and sports sessions. You can compete for an amazing prize or just sit back and enjoy watching some of the best boarders and bikers in the West of Scotland. Keep up to date with all the latest EA X-Games news on the Facebook page - 'EAC Sport'.

Kilmarnock's fabulous new Ayrshire Athletics Arena will also be hosting a range of activities over the summer months including All Ability Cycling which offers children and adults who have a physical or learning disability or impaired balance the chance to fully participate in the fun and freedom of cycling. Leisure Development Services will also be hosting the All Ability Sportlympics - a competitive sports and athletics club over the summer holidays allowing participants the chance to challenge their peers and also themselves in a range of different activities in a safe and fun environment.

Also at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena, the Startrack Athletics Summer programme will be entertaining children and young people of all abilities who love running, jumping and having fun. It teaches the fundamentals of track and field events through skill sessions and games, as well as offering more advanced techniques for more experienced athletes.

And last but certainly not least - adults and older people can take part in the CHIP Community Exercise Programme or meet up for a free health walk. The friendly CHIP staff will be on hand to give advice on healthy lifestyle choices and there are a number of health checks on offer to suit a variety of needs.

bE Active also contains information on local sports clubs and lists partner activities.
