Take the Challenge as part of the Ballochmyle Outdoor Festival
As part of Ballochmyle Outdoor Festival, the River Ayr Challenge takes place over two days, and alongside the challenge, the festival itself includes a variety of fun events in Muirkirk, Sorn, Catrine and Mauchline.
As usual, there will be checkpoints approx every 5 miles along the route which will provide refreshments and re-fuel stops but this year there will be a new twist with Ranger led activities on route. These activities will coincide with the walking challenge route and this will allow both members of the public and walkers of the RAW Challenge to take part. This year we are also tying in to the Ballochmyle Outdoor Festival which gives a new dimension to both events.
The activities will be about 2 hours long and the timings are set to allow walkers of the challenge and members of the public to take part. Transport will be available to take participants back to the beginning of each event.
If you want to take part in the festival but are interested in a less strenuous walk then why not take part in one of the following:
Join the Dusk Walk on Friday the 20th of July, meeting at 9pm at the Bowling Green car park at Catrine Voes Local Nature Reserve or meet at Aird's Moss, Mungo's Bridge on Saturday the 21st July for a Bird ID and Natural History walk with the Countryside Rangers. On Sunday the 22nd July a Historical and Geocaching Walk from Catrine Caravan Park and Ice Cream Parlour to the Haugh Farm.
The RAW walking challenge costs £15 and for this you get checkpoint stations with refreshments and a River Ayr Way Pack with Goodies.
