Don't worry folks this was not the black cat that was spotted in New Cumnock.

NEW Cumnock was this week plunged into a wild cat mystery - after the alleged sighting of the unusually large black moggy in the village.

The Chronicle were this week contacted by one of our readers who swears she saw the animal in broad daylight less than a week ago.

She was passing through the town, when the feline, which she claims was at least double the size of a domestic cat, jumped one of the dykes at Glenafton.

But while she was adamant that this was something out of the ordinary, animal experts played down the sighting and insisted there were no public safety issues.
