PRINCE Charles this week insisted it's not all doom and gloom in Cumnock - after a damning report claimed the town is on the verge of economic meltdown.

His Royal Highness helped purchase Dumfries House in 2007 and believes there are plenty of positives in the region.

But while he is pushing on with regenerating the facility and the local area, others are painting a bleak future.

Findings from Scottish Agricultural College have reported that Cumnock and Sanquhar are two of the towns most likely to be killed off by the recession.
