THE first Dalmellington Triathlon was held at the end of last month - and was branded a triumphant success after it raised £9000 for charity.

AND THERE ARE TWO PAGES OF PICTURES IN THIS WEEK'S ISSUE.

And our snapper Gary McLaughlin was there to capture all the competitors as they went through the agonies and ecstasies of three gruelling events.

Butterfly Events organised the event to raise yet more funds for Cancer Research UK.

Lorna Dempsey, Organiser of Butterfly Events said: "This event was my brother Brian's brainwave, as he loves to compete in triathlons all over Scotland. We opened the event in January and in only four weeks it was fully booked. Our 100 participants have spent the past few months training very hard for the event, which has certainly made each of them healthier in 2012. It was a brilliant day."
