POLICE are warning householders across Cumnock and Doon Valley to be vigilant after a recent rise in thefts from gardens.

With the nights growing lighter, officers have issued a reminder to ensure all sheds and garages are kept secure at all times.

Last month cops reported how three garden chairs and a table were stolen from a back garden in Mason Avenue, New Cumnock.

Days later, two electric screwdrivers and a quantity of screwdrivers were pinched when a garden hut in Link Road, Cumnock, was forced open. A nail gun was also stolen from a door step in School Road, Auchinleck.
