LITTLE Skye Crossan said a big hello and thank-you when she met Lieutenant Angela Lewis at HMS Gannet.

The pair met for the first time properly on Tuesday - but it's fair to say there's a bit of happy history between the two.

In 2006, Angela was one of the crew on the Sea King helicopter that air-lifted mum Shirley Ann Crossan to hospital when all roads to Patna and Dalmellington were blocked off by snow - just as she went into labour with Skye.

Six years on, the pair were introduced formally as the Dalmellington girl was given a tour of the Prestwick base as part of a belated sixth birthday present.
