THE Dark Sky Observatory project is back on track and ready for lift off - thanks to local firm Hope Homes.

The Drongan-based builders saved the day when work on the £700,000 observatory at Craignegillan Estate had to be temporarily stopped when the company carrying out the development pulled out.

Forbes and Whiteford had won the tender but withdrew last month leaving the people behind the project with an almighty headache.

But Hope Homes - who are also behind the Knockroon project in Cumnock - stepped in last week and admitted they are delighted to be building the ground-breaking facility that expects to attract up to 100,000 visitors each year.
