IN THE WIND: Plans are at an early stage for two new wind farms. Picture for illustration purposes only

THE latest in a long line of wind farm developers keen on a move to East Ayrshire has signalled their intention to lodge plans for not one but two sites in the area.

Hamilton-based Banks Renewables are seeking the views of people in Cumnock and New Cumnock, as well as Kirkconnel and Kelloholm, over their proposed windfarm sites at Lethans and High Cumnock.

Both proposed sites are on land heavily populated by tress to the east of Cumnock.

They are around 5km apart and will be the subject of separate planning applications.

The Lethans proposal would see the erection of as many as 34 turbines, each up to 142m high. The proposal at High Cumnock could accommodate 10 turbines, each 125m high.
