The Chronicle would like to put it on record that missing out the question in our super wedding cake competition this week was planned.

We'd like to say that we thought it would generate interest, that it would stimulate curiosity, that it would generate comments.

We'd like to put all that on the record - but we simply can't.

Hands up - we made a mistake!

The word we're looking for is 'OOOPS'!

Actually, there's a stronger word but we're a family newspaper and we're not allowed to say it.

We're thinking it, though.

We apologise for the oversight to Pathhead Bakery and anyone who wants to enter.

So, if you want to be in with a chance of winning the fantastic wedding cake worth up to £300 from Pathhead Bakery, rest assured we'll run the competition again next week.

This time we'll try to remember to pose a question.

We think it'll be easier that way.

And the question is - Who designs Pathhead Bakery's wedding cakes?

This means you can use the coupon in this week's paper - and we'll still be running it again next week with an extended closing date.
