Taste Ayrshire open meeting
AN Open Meeting to outline the aims and objectives of Taste Ayrshire will be held in the Gailes Hotel, Irvine on Wednesday February 29 at 6.00 pm.
Taste Ayrshire will be launched later this year and aims to make Ayrshire the most visited food destination in Scotland.
The Board is made up of several prominent individuals in the food and hospitality industry including Bill Costley of Costley and Costley, Colin Blair of Buzzworks, Malcolm Simpson of Simpsinns and Richard Johnstone of Ayr Racecourse. Willie Mackie of the Clydesdale Bank and Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce is Chairman.
Taste Ayrshire, who are working closely with the Ayrshire Food Network, have already appointed a full time Executive Director in Lisa Tennant, who has a wealth of experience in the commercial, public and voluntary sectors.
The Open Meeting will include a welcome from Willie Mackie, an invitation to get involved from Colin Blair and a Presentation from Lisa Tennant. There will also be networking opportunities and a chance to chat with Board members.
Lisa commented : "I am delighted to be working in collaboration to promote Ayrshire as a Food Tourism destination. I was born in and grew up in Kilwinning and now live in Coylton and am passionate about the area.
"We have an array of natural resources - scenery, coastline, outstanding produce - and fantastic restaurants, hotels and food producers. I am excited about working in partnership to boost the local economy and attract tourists.
"I feel this is really a unique collaboration of some of the leading individuals in the food and hospitality sector not only in Ayrshire but in Scotland and I look forward to meeting everyone at the Open Meeting and would like to extend an open invitation to anyone interested in attending. "
Lisa most recently worked with Nourish Scotland where she led a national initiative on Local and Sustainable Food.
