Council wishes Wai-yin well

NHS Ayrshire and Arran Chief Executive Doctor Wai-yin Hatton was invited by Provost Stephanie Young to Council Headquarters recently where she presented Doctor Hatton with a silver platter in recognition of the excellent partnership working that she has promoted with the Council over the last sixteen years.
Doctor Hatton, who retires at the end of March, was delighted with the gift and the chance to say goodbye in an informal setting.
Provost Stephanie Young said: "On behalf of East Ayrshire Council, I would like to wish Wai-yin a very long and happy retirement. She has made a very significant contribution to health care throughout her 38-year career in the NHS and will be greatly missed."
Councillor Douglas Reid, Chair of East Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership, said: "I would like to thank Wai-yin for her unstinting support and efforts in enhancing partnership working between the Community Planning partners and we look forward to continuing this work with Wai-yin's successor John Burns."
Fiona Lees, East Ayrshire Council Chief Executive, added: "Over her extensive career, Wai-yin has made an important and lasting contribution not just to health care but to the various charities that she has been involved with for many years. I know that she intends to continue in her role as Chair of Ayrshire Sportsability Trust and perhaps to write a book as well so I wish her every success with both of these and hope she enjoys a very happy retirement."
Doctor Hatton will be succeeded by John Burns, who joins NHS Ayrshire and Arran from NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
