SNP 'pleased with outcome of vote'
Following Labour's failed attempt to bring down SNP's Administration, East Ayrshire SNP councillors said they would proudly stand by their record, and let the electors of East Ayrshire pass their verdict at the forthcoming local election's in May.
SNP Council Leader, Councillor Douglas Reid said: "We're pleased with the outcome of today's vote. Labour should be ashamed of themselves, as it was just wrong to play politics with a man's personal plight. We will now get back to the job of delivering good local services, jobs and prosperity for the people of East Ayrshire.
"Labour have failed time and time again to attack our positive record. Our Administration in five years will have helped to deliver 7 new or fully refurbished primary schools from Darvel to New Cumnock, 60 new council houses, new community facilties in Stewarton, Crosshouse and Auchinleck, new sports facilities in Kilmarnock and Stewarton, major town centre regeneration in Kilmarnock, Cumnock and Galston, a half hourly rail service between Kilmarnock and Glasgow, a new College in Kilmarnock, a £1million Business Enterprise Fund in school, major investment in public parks, the list goes on and of course a Council Tax Freeze for five years.
"As we speak there are £70 million worth of capital projects coming out the ground in East Ayrshire, providing 4,000 local jobs in the construction industry. What did Labour do in the previous 12 years?"
"Our opponents can pull all the publicity stunts they want, the SNP will continue to work for the people of East Ayrshire."
