SNP avoid defeat but Filson debate rages on
THE SNP avoided an embarrassing defeat in the Council Chambers on Thursday after the debate over their handling of councillor Drew Filson raged on.
Leader Douglas Reid insisted his party had acted in a 'reasonable and proportionate' way after Dalmellington councillor Filson was disqualifed from his duties on December 8.
He claimed there was no cover-up or collusion amid claims they had failed to notify other elected members and the electorate of his disqualification due to an ongoing court case.
Labour leader Maureen Mckay claimed their reputation was now in tatters.
But their 'No-Confidence' motion against the SNP-led administration was defeated by 16 votes to 14.
