POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an 88-year-old man was duped out of a three-figure sum by a crook posing as a Scottish Water engineer.

Local cops branded the crime as 'despicable' and 'ridiculous' and have pleaded with the public to come forward with any information.

The pensioner was in his Craigens Road house on Monday evening when he discovered a man had entered and was brazenly standing in the hallway.
