'Keeping Warm, Keeping Well'
GPs across Scotland are being asked to help promote information for people who often find it difficult to keep warm in their homes and afford their fuel bills. 'Keeping Warm, Keeping Well' leaflets are being sent by charity Energy Action Scotland, with support from ScottishPower, to all GP surgeries in Scotland.
Energy Action Scotland's aim is to spread the word that there is assistance available to people living in cold, damp homes and for whom high fuel bills are a worry.
The leaflets will be on display in GP surgeries for the public to take away. They contain information on grants for home insulation and heating, energy-saving advice and tips on how to reduce fuel bills.
Norman Kerr, Director of Energy Action Scotland said: "GP surgeries are ideally placed to get information to those who might not otherwise know what help they can get. Knowing that you can get energy advice or even a grant for heating or insulation can make a real difference to many people. We're really grateful to GPs for helping by displaying the 'Keeping Warm, Keeping Well' leaflets."
ScottishPower has provided the support the charity needed to produce and distribute the leaflets.
Neil Clitheroe, CEO, ScottishPower Retail and Generation said: "We are pleased to be supporting the production of the 'Keeping Warm, Keeping Well' leaflet, and believe it will provide a valuable source of information and advice for many people. ScottishPower is committed to offering help and support for those people who need it most, and we were keen to help Energy Action Scotland with this worthwhile campaign."
