Animal shelter appeals for blankets
The Scottish SPCA is asking animal lovers to donate blankets to its
Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.
The charity's centre in Mainholm, Ayr, took in 450 animals last year and
staff are keen to make sure all the pets in their care are kept cosy and
comfortable as the cold snap continues.
Centre Manager Marion Hainey said, "During the winter months blankets
are really important and our pets like to have something to snuggle
into.
"As winter shows no signs of leaving, we're appealing to the public to
hand in new or used blankets that are clean and in good condition.
"Unfortunately, we can't accept duvets or pillows as the insides can be
harmful to the animals if they eat them.
"We hope kind-hearted locals will get behind our appeal as we have lots
of dogs, cats and other animals who will be so grateful for the
donations."
Blankets can be handed in to the Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal
Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Millview, Mainholm, between 10am and 4pm
seven days a week.
