BIG LICKS: Zac, aged 8, with Chester, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross.
A DOG-LOVING teacher has taken her passion for pooches to a whole new level after setting up a rescue centre just outside Cumnock.
Lorraine Jardine set up the Islay Dog Rescue Home in September and has already found families for 33 animals that were effectively death-row dogs.
The satisfaction is immense for Lorraine, who set up the non-profit organisation when she discovered how difficult it was to 'adopt' dogs.
She lost two Jack Russells in a road incident last year and while she could never replace Maggie and Zara, she wanted to fill the void that they left behind.
But her attempts to adopt were continually thwarted by the likes of the Dogs Trust.
