PARENTS, teachers and pupils ignored the wintry weather to help start work on the refurbishment of Littlemill Primary and Nursery Class.
Council Leader Douglas Reid welcomed guests to the turf cutting, a key stage in the history of Littlemill, performed by Councillor Jim Roberts.
The interior of the building is set to be fully refurbished with all classrooms being modernised and toilets upgraded.
Electrics and heating in the building will be overhauled and new carpets, blinds and fitted furniture will be installed.
A nursery room and external soft surface play area will be created and the school will also benefit from a modernised gym and dining building, with a new food server zone.
Outside, there will be an eco garden, along with upgraded car-parking and CCTV.
