A charity originally set up to provide payments to women suffering from incurable diseases has just made a one-off donation of its funds to The Ayrshire Hospice.

Recognising that The Bequest of Misses Parker was no longer providing any public benefit, the Trustees applied to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator for a reorganisation scheme which would allow the entire fund to be transferred to the Hospice.

Following approval of the application, a sum of £2,323.00, the current value of the Bequest, was recently handed over to the Hospice which will go directly towards providing specialist palliative care to the people of Kilmarnock and Ayrshire.

Councillor John Campbell, Trustee and Chair of the Trust, said: "It's wonderful that the Bequest can contribute to the hugely important work that is carried out every day by the Hospice and it seems very fitting that the Bequest is coming to an end by fulfilling its original purpose."
