Cops hunt gang after vicious attack

A HAT-wearing thug and his gang are being hunted by cops after a man was left with serious facial injuries in a sickening town-centre assault in Cumnock.
The 49-year-old was walking home at around 2am on Sunday when he was accosted by five people - one girl and four males - in Glasinock Street near Emrys Avenue.
As he walked towards the group - all believed to be aged 15 to 20 years old - a man wearing a hat with ears suddenly punched him in the face.
The force of the blow flattened the man and he crashed to the ground and immediately lost consciousness. When he woke up, he found help from nearby and was immediately rushed to Ayr Hospital.
Cops say he was badly shaken by the incident and a spokeswoman added: "He suffered numerous fractures to his face and lots of bruising on his back. Although he was unconscious and doesn't know what happened after he was punched, the injuries indicate he was attacked as he lay on the ground.
"We are now just hoping that people who may have some information come forward. It was a serious incident."
As we went to press, there had been no arrests.
