Police hail festive crackdown on crime
CUMNOCK cops this week hailed their Christmas crackdown on crime a success - but admitted drink-related violence remained a massive problem.
The local police force launched their annual festive initiative from December 9 as patrols targeted pubs and incident hot-spots in a bid to limit trouble in the area,
And while there was still incidents - including four serious assaults between December 16 and January 1 - Inspector Derek Ireland declared himself happy with a relatively hassle-free period.
