New Cumnock artist Julie H Winter has returned to her trademark bold landscape paintings for her latest exhibition.

'The Textured Landscape' shows the rolling hills, moors and rivers around New Cumnock and Glen Afton where she lives. Most of the exhibits are painted using a palette knife which brings the feeling of movement to strongly coloured paintings and a stillness to her lighter, pastel-coloured scenes.

Julie moved to the area as she was inspired by the rolling countryside and the quality of light for painting. She is a keen advocate of art and teaches weekly and one-off classes. She is a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists.

Ailsa Craig, the Heads of Ayr and Culzean and Dunure Castles are also featured in her exhibition.

'The Textured Landscape' is on view at the Wellington Gallery in Wellington Street , Kilmarnock until the end of December. Admission is free Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm.
