PLANS to develop a visitor centre and offices at the former church and rectory in Catrine's Ballochmyle Steet have been given the thumbs up.

Despite listening to the views of objectors councillors opted to accept the proposal that will also see the construction of a geodome in the garden ground.

Catrine Community Trust are spearheading the move and hope the refurbished St. Joseph's Chapel and Rectory can provide a focal point for heritage tours of the village and surrounding area as well as offering toilet facilities and refreshments for people on the River Ayr Walk.
