Cash boost to help fund new buddies

LONELY old folk in Doon Valley will have friendly faces to look forward to.

Awards for All presented the Zone Youth Committee in Dalmellington with a £9,820 cash injection to continue to their "barrier breaking" scheme of befriending in Care Homes and Sheltered Housing across Doon Valley.

The Zone's Home Buddy currently sees Doon Academy pupils and the groups staff visit elderly people in their home in Dalmellington, Bellsbank, Burnton to help out with tidying-up, picking up messages or taking them to the doctor.
