DRIVERS across Cumnock and Doon Valley are in line for another fortnight of road works misery as East Ayrshire Council battles to repair damaged surfaces.

The A70 Muirkirk Road will be closed at Lugar this Sunday to allow for the completion of resurfacing works.

Westbound traffic will be diverted from the A70 near Muirkirk via the B743 to Mauchline, before turning left onto the A76 and rejoining the A70 at the Dettingen Roundabout, Cumnock and vice versa.

Works have been taking place since Monday to resurface a 215 metre stretch on Muirkirk Road while a 285 square metre area between Craigston Square and Muirkirk Road is also being revamped.

Meanwhile in Dalmellington work at the B741 Dalmellington Square will start next Saturday for two weekends.

And Patna will be hot from Monday September 5.
