JEAN McCaig was the toast of her proud and large family when she celebrated her 105th birthday on Monday.

The Rankinston woman has seven children, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and most turned up to play a part in her big day this week.

And as well as the familiar faces, Jean - who was brought up in New Cumnock before moving to Rankinston when she got married to John McCaig - received a special card with a birthday message from The Queen.

See this week's paper for the full story.
