Cho Cho Cho-ose Dunaskin For A Great Day Out.
Steam trains will be running at Dunaskin on Sunday August 7, 14, 21 and 28, and September 4 and 25.
Every Sunday during July and August has seen the Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group hold their popular Steam Days at the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre, Dunaskin, Waterside, between Patna and Dalmellington.
The Centre will be open from 11am to 4pm, and everyone is welcome to come along and view the vintage locomotives and rolling stock in the Group's care. There is a museum and shop open. The popular steam hauled brake van rides will be in operation, with the Group's regular locomotive 'NCB Ayrshire Area No. 10' in steam. No. 10 was built at Barclay's, Kilmarnock in 1947, and has been at work in the Doon Valley, until 1978 with the National Coal Board, and in the Group's care since then. Also on display is the Group's oldest locomotive, Dalmellington Iron Company No. 16, built at Barclay's, Kilmarnock in 1910.
Come along and look round the museum, visit the shop, view the live steam G-gauge model railway, and have as many runs on the train as you wish.
The run is 1/3 mile along the Centre's demonstration line. Last summer nearly 2000 visitors enjoyed the sights and sounds of a bygone era, so why not journey up the scenic Doon Valley to Dunaskin this Sunday, and experience some nostalgia?
