DOON Academy is bucking the trend when it comes to improving young people's chances of finding work.
Despite youth unemployment being at an all time high in East Ayrshire, the Dalmellington secondary school is ensuring pupils know it's not all doom and gloom.
One way of improving prospects is through Further and Higher Education and the school is impressing its importance on the pupils.
A shining example is Kyle McCormick, who is considering applying to study law at Cambridge University.
He received one-to-one advice from Cambridge University schools adviser Josh Jowitt, who also spoke with the new fourth year pupils about what the future could hold for them.
Chronicle reporters MICHELLE CRAIG and DAVID KERR visited the school to find out what is being done to encourage pupils.
