GLENAFTON Athletic insist they will fight "tooth and nail" against a five-year ban on organising youth football tournaments.

The New Cumnock club were handed the sanction by the Scottish Youth FA (SYFA) after complaints were made about their Festival of Football last year.

The annual festival has been staged by the Loch Park club for 11 years and was a big hit with teams across the UK. Last year it attracted 95 entries.

But the club were hauled before the SYFA General Purposes Committee on November 11 last year for breaching guidelines.

The basis of the charge was they were running a competitive tournament for players under the age of 11 in violation of an agreed National Player Pathway.
