Police in Dumfries and Galloway are urging motorists to take extra care when travelling on roads in the region.

Falling snow, particularly in the west of the region, around the Newton Stewart area, is making driving conditions difficult.

Likewise icy road surfaces on the A74(M) north of Moffat should be treated with extreme care.

Police urge motorists only to make journeys that are necessary, and to take particular care when travelling on side roads which may not have been treated yet. All roads are currently passable with care.
