Tuesday September 7 saw the 60th anniversary of the Knockshinnoch Disaster and on Sunday the memorial cairn at New Cumnock saw locals out to remember the dark day when 13 miners were killed in a landfill.
Amongthose paying their respects was Andrew McDickens, a survivor of the 1950 disaster.
The Chronicle September 8 edition carries a full report and pictures from sunday's service but there are more in our on-line gallery.
