The fifth week of an 11 week project to significantly upgrade the A76 trunk road in Mauchline has been completed. The £1.6m project is designed and managed by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, and is delivered by principal contractor Barr Construction.
Work progressed during week five:
580m of the southbound carriageway was planed over the weekend with a permanent running surface now applied to both the north and southbound carriageways
Southbound parking bays and bus lay-bys are currently under construction
Northbound footway works have now been completed on Kilmarnock Road
Business liaison continues with all businesses throughout the town on a daily basis.
What’s planned for this week?
The second part of phase two will commence on Tuesday 17 August in time for the end of the school holidays
Work will begin on the southbound carriageway up to the end of the scheme at the 40mph gateway
Restrictions on traffic will continue through this period
Landscaping will begin on the whole scheme (includes phase one) and is programmed for three days
All businesses remain open throughout the works
Hours of operation and traffic management
The A76 remains closed with local access available only - diversions are in place.
Phase 2 diversions: Vehicles over 7.5 tonnes are diverted northbound via A70 and A77 and the same in reverse. All other traffic is diverted via A719, B743.
The workforce is on-site between 7am and 7pm.
The workforce will work seven days each week to complete the works
Mauchline Cross remains open until the final weekend of the works
