Farewell to the Dambusters

A FORMER Auchinleck Academy pupil has bid a fond farewell to the world famous "Dambusters".

Flight Lt. Blyth "Mitch" Mitchell marked the end of his 20 year spell in the 617 Squadron with a flight near to his Muirkirk birthplace.

The 43-year-old has fulfilled a lifetime's ambition by carving out a flying career and will now take a back seat with a new RAF role at Cranwell.
