MAJOR roadworks on the A70 at Muirkirk get underway this week.
Throughout the week there will be temporary traffic lights and a convoy system in place at Smallburn Road to allow carriageway resurfacing to take place. And on Sunday (July 25) the road will be closed completely, with diversions traffic via the M74, A71, A719, B7037, B743, A70 and vice versa. Motorists are asked to allow extra time for their journey and to heed all signs put in place.
Meanwhile the U376 Loganhill Road in Cumnock was closed on Wednesday and again today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) for the installation of a passing place. The same road will be closed on Monday, July 26 for carriageway resurfacing.
Temporary traffic lights remain in place on Beechwood Road in Auchinleck and in the Mossgiel area of Mauchline, while a Stop/Go system will be in place on the B730 Polnessan to Drongan road on Thursday and Friday of this week and Monday for a series of Rural Route Action Plan measures, which include the installation of new signs and bollards.
