A pilot scheme for a youth club in Auckinleck has received a financial boost from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

Auchinleck Community Development Initiative will receive a £4,600 from the CRT to help fund staff and equipment for a year-long trial of a weekly youth club.

ACDI decided on the pilot scheme after a series of surveys and a community development day identified a lack of facilities for young people and resulting anti-social behaviour as a major issue.

The grant will help fund three part time workers at the club. Their roles will include delivering health and fitness programmes, addressing social issues like substance abuse and bullying and running outdoor education events and games.

Nicky Wilson, Scottish Trustee of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust said: "This project meets our key objective of helping create healthier communities, particularly by supporting leisure activities for young people."
