The mum of murdered Drongan teenager, Michelle Stewart, believes the SNP Government has given "free reign for criminals to run about with knives".
SNP and Lib-Dems quashed Labour's proposals to "get tough" on knife crime by introducing mandatory six months jail time for anyone caught carrying a blade.
Michelle was only 17 when she was brutally knifed 10 times by ex-boyfriend John Wilson in November 2008 when she refused to talk to him.
Mum, Josephine Stewart, 47, from Coronation Road, Drongan blasted the decision saying: "It's terrible, I actually think it's terrible.
"They're just out for the criminals and not for the victims. It's the families who are living with a life sentence. Until it happens to them, God forbid, nothing will change.
"They're more or less saying run about with a knife as long as you don't use it. It's sickening. They need to take a big hard look at this and see how many people are losing their lives."
