Billy Jackson

A FURIOUS bowler says "enough is enough" after being banned from a bowling club for FIVE YEARS.

However the Club hit back stating "He is free to apply to any other club in Ayrshire."

Billy Jackson claims he was unfairly banned from New Cumnock Bowling Club by committee members after he questioned the way the club was being run.

Despite seven people, including himself, signing a letter which was sent to the committee over the issue, he was the only one banned.

And Mr Jackson believes he was singled out and is adamant there is STILL no reason or justification for the decision.

Mr Jackson from Loch Rowan Crescent said: "I apply every year for them to turn me away without an explanation. It's not right what's happening.

I got a letter through from the bowling club. It said they had discussed my re-application and decided to ban me from the club again. Enough is enough."

Mr Jackson says the problems arose in 2006 after he questioned the way entry money was distributed at an annual tournament.

He said: "We had been competing in this tournament and just before the semi-finals we were told that some of the sponsorship money was being held back to provide hospitality for the sponsors. I didn't think this was right and a few people agreed with me. But I was singled out."

However, New Cumnock Bowling Club insist Mr Jackson was suspended for breaching constitution rules by setting up a petition without approaching the committee first. Stuart Ballantyne, Secretary stated: "Suspension was hanging over Mr Jackson following an incident during his time as Club Treasurer.

The ban didn't come into effect until Mr Jackson breached the Club Constitution."

But the club offered Mr Jackson some advice saying: "He is free to apply to any other bowling club in Ayrshire or Scotland. Our ban doesn't stop him applying to other clubs."
