£787,000 Facelift for Academy Gym

Fraser Gilliland splashed his way to success at the School Swimming Championships last October.

Sporty pupils are set to benefit from a £787,000 gym refurbishment at Auchinleck Academy.

Head teacher Colin McLean praised the upgrade as "a real shot in the arm" for budding swimmers, badminton stars and athletes.

In the past four years the Academy has excelled at National Level in basketball, badminton, football and volleyball.

And last October Fraser Gilliland splashed his way to success by winning two gold medals at the School Swimming Championships held at Ayr baths.

Principal Teacher of PE, John Wilson says the refurbishment will "lift the spirits of pupils."

Cllr Jim Roberts, Spokersperson for Lifelong learning praised the upgrade as long overdue.
