Cops are hunting two men who stabbed a security guard and made off with thousands of pounds in cash from Tesco Auchinleck.

The 52-year-old G4S security guard was rushed to Ayr Hospital by ambulance last night (Tuesday May 11). His condition is described as stable.

Police at Kilmarnock are continuing enquiries into the two men wearing black at the time of the incident.

The robbers, who struck at 11.25pm, are believed to be in their 20s and stole a five figure sum of money. They were last seen running towards Coal Road, north west of the supermarket.
