Count underway

THE count for the Central Ayrshire seat and Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock is now underway.

The verification of votes and postal votes was completed at 1.35am for Central Ayrshire, allowing the count proper to get underway for that seat which had a recorded turn-out of 64 per cent.

For Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock the count got underway at 1.45am and the turnout was 62.5 per cent.

Results are expected after 4.30am at the count for both seats at Ayr's Citadel Leisure Centre, where 108 enumerators are currently counting the ballot papers.
