Seeing red over Green Flag award

A charity has criticised East Ayrshire Council for taking credit for a project which they have only provided 10 per cent of funding for in the last three years.

But EAC played down the application for a Green Flag award at the Woodroad park stating it "recognised the improvements their partnership" with the Woodroad Regeneration Forum had brought.

Since 2007, the charity has spent almost £205,000 renovating the area. East Ayrshire Woodlands has provided £47,796 to the project, double the council's contribution of £23,200.

Roseanne Savage, chair of the Woodroad Regeneration Forum, said: "There is naturally a concern that the hard work of the group is deflected."
