A benefits fraudster claimed £25,000 income support while he worked for a funeral company carrying out duties at Ayr Crematorium for four years.

James Series, 56 conned the Department of Work and Pensions between February 11, 2003 and November 26, 2007 when he stayed at Backrogerton Crescent, Auchinleck.

He claimed the £25,000 handout he was not entitled to because he was working for Dignitiy Funerals Ltd - who have branches in Kilmarnock and Cumnock.
