Cronberry murderer Thomas Smith escaped a major beating in Barlinnie last week, according to prison insiders writes ALISTAIR NEIL.
Smith, who was sentenced to 32 years in jail for the murders of Holly and Diane Fallon earlier this month, is understood to be in insolation for his own safety.
But last Thursday it is claimed a vicious attack intended for Smith, pictured, was dished out by prison lags in the weights room.
However it has since been confirmed his fellow cons believed him to be someone else and targeted the wrong person.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said, "It was a case of mistaken identity,"
The injured male is not believed to have suffered any life threatening injuries.
