Locals seeking to shed those pounds will work up a sweat by playing video games in a pioneering partnership to fight the flab writes SANDY KILPATRICK.

Members from the Cumnock Weight Watchers meeting will take to the Wii Fit Balance Board to spin virtual hula hoops, flap their arms like a bird, and wave their nunchuks around to burn fat.

The innovative trial to encourage active exercise will team up video game giants, Nintendo - creaters of Mario Kart, Zelda and Pokemon - with Cumnock's very own Princess Peach, Weight Watchers Leader Christine Mitchell in a two-player fight for weight loss.
