Dental patients in Ayrshire and Arran are the second highest registered in Scotland.

But the NHS still don't know when Cumnock's proposed state-of-the-art dental facility will be up and running at East Ayrshire Community Hospital (EACH) as detailed discussions are "still underway".

The newly revealed ISD Scotland stats from March 2007 till September 2009 show 283,000 Ayrshire and Arran residents are registered with a dentist.

Only half of all babies and infants in Ayrshire and Arran are signed up for dental care and just 59% of elderly people have their teeth looked at.
